Consell and SD Formentera strike deal on use and management of sports pitch

foto 2020 conveni camp esportsWhen Consell de Formentera president Alejandra Ferrer sat down today with Toni Roig, president of hometown football club SD Formentera, the two put their signatures on a deal regarding the right to use, and the authority to manage, some of the facilities at the municipal pitch in 2020. Paula Ferrer, the island’s consellera of sports, was on hand at the signing as well.

Under the terms of the deal, the Consell de Formentera authorises SD Formentera to make use of all but the Casal d’Esport, athletics track and north goal storage shed on the pitch.

Meanwhile, SD Formentera pledges to facilitate access, use and enjoyment of the areas in question to local sports associations and other groups whose need for sports facilities has been approved by local government.

SD Formentera promises to oversee upkeep and cleaning of the pitch, a service the Consell de Formentera will compensate to the tune of €14,900.

Consell and Club Surf Formentera join forces

foto 2020 conveni surfA collaborative agreement signed today by Consell de Formentera president Alejandra Ferrer and Club Surf Formentera chair Alex Buchau involves coordination of 2020 operations at the municipal sailing school, privileges to use Consell facilities and employment of Escola de Vela personnel. Sport consellera Paula Ferrer was also on hand at the signing.

The Consell de Formentera promises to pay CSF €35,000 for running the centre, where CSF staff will be brought in to help develop operations. CSF will be in charge of selecting training personnel, who will be supervised by the coordinator of Formentera’s nautical sport centre.

This Wednesday, open enrolment for Escola de Vela summer courses

foto 2020 escola de velaThe Formentera department of sport reports that registration for summer courses in sailing and windsurfing at the Escola de Vela begins Wednesday 8 July. Classes start Monday 13 July and are geared towards children aged 5 to 17.

To sign up, call the Antoni Blanc fitness centre at 971 32 12 40.

Courses last two weeks and include classes Monday to Friday, with two hours and 15 minutes of daily lessons from 9.00am to 11.15am, 11.45am to 2.00pm or 4.30pm to 6.45pm. Originally scheduled to run two and a half hours, sessions have been shortened to create a 30-minute buffer between groups during which time equipment can be disinfected.

A number of instructional levels are proposed from beginners’ to advanced, and group size is limited to eight. Students must be at least five years old to for sailing classes and seven for windsurfing. Students must know how to swim. 10 July will see the start of Friday classes for a group from the Formentera Centre de Dia. The regatta team will also begin training this week.

Classes for students over 18
Whether students are new to water sports or seasoned pros, two Saturday sessions —9.30am to 11.30am or 12 noon to 2.00pm— are available for students over 18. Per safety measures, masks must be worn in the school and when groups are together on the boat, although not on individual sailboats or windsurf boards, since students ride alone and a safe distance can be kept.

Windsurfing school opens 1 June

foto escola de velapjThe Formentera Department of Sport reports that the Escola de Vela will begin operations on 1 June. Two-hour courses will be held Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 11.30am, 12 noon to 2.00pm and 4.30pm to 6.30pm. Students can attend any day they choose, provided they arrive on time. Given new Covid-19 safety protocol, no more than two individuals will be permitted per course, and windsurfing is currently the only modality available.

Courses are open to children (eight and up) and adults who know how to swim. Students who wish to schedule a course should call at least 48 hours in advance, and signups can be completed at the Antoni Blanc fitness centre. Safety and hygiene protocol will be enforced and masks must be worn. Summer courses start the week of 22 June. Details about the start of signups and exact times to follow in the weeks ahead.

Consell announces openings in protection of minors, social work and administration

foto 2020 web ofertes de feinaThe human resources arm of the Consell de Formentera reports it has listed two new job openings for administrative officers in protection of minors and social work. The offers were posted Saturday 23 May on BOIB, Spain’s official gazette.

Yesterday came with an extension for the deadline on applications for administrative assistants, an offer originally published 14 March but suspended due to the invocation of emergency orders. The new deadline is 3 June.

Urgent, temporary or otherwise, all job listings, previously published exclusively on the SOIB regional jobseekers’ site, will henceforth be advertised on the Consell de Formentera website in a new job offers section (https://bit.ly/2Xw8Qte) and on the human resource department’s online bulletin board. Visitors to the site will find all relevant information as well as the application form.
