'Posam valors a l'esport' brings nautical activities and environmental workshops to Formentera students

foto 2022ix posam valors esport AThe Formentera Office of Sports is pleased to announce that this week local students are taking part in nautical activities and environmental workshops at the Nautical Sports Centre (Centre d'Esports Nàutics de Formentera, CENF) as part of 'Let's put values in sport' (Posam valors a l'esport).

Last week, activity leaders from Cleanwave and White Sand Solutions began piloting kayaking and windsurfing outings and environmental workshops with year-four pupils from primary schools.

Paula Ferrer, councillor of sports, said that the programme "aims to promote educational and social values and drive home the idea that caring for nature is essential for our future".

Last year's parallel campaign 'Sport makes us equal' (L'esport ens fa iguals) found more than 1,200 schoolchildren taking part in upwards of 50 workshops and included graphic and audiovisual material. "We continue to work in this line of using sport to transmit values like equality, conflict resolution, frustration and motivation", said Councillor Ferrer, pointing out that additional programming was in the works for winter 2022.

Co-financed by the Govern balear (€11,726.08) and Consell de Formentera (€5,000), 'Posam valors a l'esport' aims to organise activities and actions to disseminate, train and raise awareness of values and positive attitudes in sport.

Open registration for municipal swimming, archery, athletics and tennis schools

foto 2022ix escoles esportivesThe Formentera Office of Sports is pleased to report that signups for the municipal schools of swimming, archery, athletics and tennis will open next week. For now, the sailing school will continue with summer courses.

Swimming school
Monday 12 September, registration for the 2022-2023 school year starts at the municipal swimming school. This year classes will range from "tortoise" level (i.e., primary school pupils aged six and up) to advanced classes for teens. Signups run Monday 12 September through Friday 16 September and can be done online on the Virtual Citizen Information Office (OVAC) or in person at the OAC. Monday 19 September to Friday 23 September, signups will be confirmed via email or over the phone and a date and time will be set. Classes begin on 26 September.

Swimming lessons will be offered at every school on the island
This year, for the first time, local schools will have swimming lessons for young children, i.e. three to six years old. This year CEIP Sant Ferran de ses Roques has been added, which will also include swimming pool activities for primary school pupils. This year, children enrolled in physical education classes at CEIP Mestre Lluís Andreu will also take part in swimming activities. In addition, students in the UEECO classroom at IES Marc Ferrer will receive classes two days a week. This summer, improvements were carried out inside the pool, including new doors and furniture. The pool was also cleaned and hyperchlorinated, and new material was purchased.

Consell and SD Formentera formalise deal to coordinate and manage junior football school

foto 2022 conveni SDFAna Juan, president of the Consell de Formentera, and Toni Roig, president of Sociedad Deportiva Formentera, have signed a collaboration agreement to coordinate and manage Formentera Junior Football School (Escola de Futbol Base, EFBF) in 2022. Paula Ferrer, councillor of sports, was also in attendance at the signing.

Under this agreement, the Consell de Formentera will provide SD Formentera with €35,000 in subsidies. In turn, the club will implement and develop the agreed activity and must develop a planning of the season with the objectives, content and activities for teaching values to each of the groups of EFBF players.

Consell and GE Espalmador collaborate on athletics school activities

foto 2022ix conveni GEEYesterday Ana Juan, president of the Consell de Formentera, and Juan José Escandell, president of Grup Esportiu Espalmador, signed a collaborative agreement to support activities at the Formentera Municipal School of Athletics (Escola Municipal d'Atletisme de Formentera, EMAF). The purpose of this agreement, a direct grant of €24,000, is to fund recruitment of technical staff to carry out EMAF activities. Paula Ferrer, councillor of sport, was also present at the signing.

This summer, Escola de Vela offers courses for adults Monday to Friday

foto 2022vii escola vela AThe Formentera Office of Sports is pleased to announce that this summer, sailing and windsurfing courses offered Mondays to Fridays through the Escola de Vela at the Formentera Nautical Sports Centre (CENF) will be open to adults as well. This year two time slots are available: 12 noon to 2.00pm and 4.00pm to 6.00pm.
