Summer camp programme admits 100% of child applicants

The Formentera office of youth reports that the island’s summer programme for school-aged children, the Escola d'Estiu, has admitted all 180 children for whom a registration form was filled out. The 2020 Escola d'Estiu will accommodate 99 children at the location in Sant Francesc, 57 in Sant Ferran and 24 in La Mola. Organisers will start placing calls this Monday to schedule meetings with families and prepare for the start of school.

Staggered drop-off and pick-up
The Escola d'Estiu daily programme runs from 8.00am to 2.30pm, and this year, parents and guardians are asked to choose from one of several drop-off and pick-up times. The main theme of the 2020 programme is health, while the watchword —“Ens cuidam”— aims to encourage personal care. Highlighting efforts by local government to satisfy demand for the summer programme, youth department consellera Vanessa Parellada described the Escola d'Estiu as a crucial resource for working families and underscored the positive impact that educational recreation has on child development.

Special safety protocol
Special protocol will be in place to prevent the spread of covid-19. Group size will be reduced and counsellors will interact exclusively with their assigned groups, abstaining from contact with other children to keep transmission risks to a minimum and forgoing trips outside the centre for the same. Cleaning and disinfecting measures mandated by the authorities will likewise be respected.
